Story Starter

Hey guys, unfortunately nothing eventful happened in my week... So I'll just post my story starter in place of my blog. Sorry to any that actually like, and read my blogs.
Once upon a time there was a young lad named Peter. Peter was an adventurous teen, always breaking rules and crossing boundaries.
It's was September 15th, the first day of school. Peter woke up with a whole slew of feelings. A mixture of excitement, disappointment and a hint of adventure. He hopped out of his bed brushed his teeth. Peter then opened his closet and picked out a pink polo and tan Dickies. He rushed down the stairs to eat breakfast. He snatched a box of Lucky Charms off the pantry and hurriedly poured milk into his bowl. He ate all of the oats first and saved the marshmallows for last. Finally, after devouring his breakfast, the bus pulled up in front of the house. He ran out of the house with excitement. As Peter sprinted to the bus, he felt a weird texture on the sole of his feet. He forgot his shoes! He dashed back to his room, opened his closet and snatched his shoes. Peter sat down  in the centre of his room to put his shoes on. But he noticed something strange. There's was an opening behind his closet. Ignoring it, he ran to the bus.
It was 4:00, and Peter just got home. He threw his bag next to the door of his room and set his shoes inside his closet. And there it was. The opening. With caution, he approached the back of his closet. He went down what appeared to be a staircase. Step after step, Peter eventually reached the bottom of the room. It was dark. Pitch black, he couldn't see a thing. He took out his phone and enabled the flash light. It was a huge room. Dust and critters everywhere. He walked around, a bit scared with a rush of adrenaline rushing through him. He kept walking, wanting to turn back. Peter reached the end of the corridor.  And there it was... Batman's Suit...

Black Friday!

I'm sure that many of you are aware that last week was Thanksgiving. Well, like others, mine was very special. Not only was I able to spend the day with my awesome family, I was also able to go black friday shopping!
After devouring all the food, including desert, my dad, uncle and I decided to stop by Best Buy. We rolled into the swarmed parking lot, feeling intimidated, as if we were never going to find parking. After about ten minutes of driving in circles, my dad decided that my uncle and I should go inside as he continued to find parking. We strolled into the store, and even before walking we realized the insane amount of people, crowded in side the Best Buy. We forced ourselves inside. We wandered inside the building, passing through movies and toys. Finally, after venturing through the labyrinth, that is, "Best Buy," we arrived at our destination, the game consoles. As I was browsing through the video games, and  noting the price of the PS4, my dad finally arrived. He and I analyzed the prices of every PS4 option. After about 20 minutes, we concluded to purchase the Star Wars PS4 bundle pack. We walked out of the store with a feeling accomplishment and excitement.

Weekly Pedlow Practice.

Hello fellow people! This weeks blog is going to be about my Saturday experience at my local skatepark. You see, almost every Friday or Saturday, I try to go to my local park to practice and learn new tricks.
It all started when my mom dropped me off in the front of the park. I kissed her bye and began to skate towards the heart of the park. I instantly recognized then greeted many of my friends. I warmed up skating the "nugget," a three foot ledge. I hopped up the obstacle and did my normal routine. After about ten minutes, I skate towards the middle or the park to try out the new obstacles. The was a small ledge, a rail and manual pad (used for doing tricks on two wheels). Skated toward the rail and landed a 50-50 (a grind that involves both of your trucks to slide on the obstacle) first try. Then, right after landing the grind, I sped toward the wooden pad and tried to manual it. A manual is a maneuver when you ollie up the object and land on two wheels and balance. After almost an hour of skating all the obstacles in the center of the park, I decided to try something new, and relatively scary. Once again, I hopped up the nugget. I rolled up with speed, setting up my feet and readying myself to commit to the trick, but last minute, I hopped off my board and down nugget. I went up again for a second attempt. I rolled with speed, then committed to my trick. I watched the obstacle then popped the nose of my board. My timing was perfect, however I wasn't ready to take the impact, so I slipped out. For a third time, I rolled toward the edge of the obstacle feeling confident. I committed and popped the nose. My timing was off causing the board to rocket forward, and straighten mid air, right under me, between both of my legs, almost hitting my... you know what let's not talk about that... Anyway, finally, for the fourth and final  attempt, I sped toward the end with confidence and caution. I popped the nose upward, with precision and timing, gaining lots of height. After successfully timing the trick, is landed off nugget, clean, with no worry.
On that day, I felt accomplished that I learned something new, a trick that I never thought that I would be able to pull off.

Grandma's Birthday.

Hello everyone, I'm back with another blog post! So this week's blog is going to be about my Grandma's 68th birthday. Now you might be wondering, why the heck would he do this? Well it's because of where we celebrated, a fancy restaurant called Ruth's Chris. You might be aware that this restaurant is famous for serving steak, well, as a matter of fact our family decided to eat there.

As soon as I walked in the door, the vibe the place gave off was very different than what I was normally used to. It's was quiet, and dim, while the beautiful aroma of steak filled the building. After sitting about ten minutes, the waiter then walked us to our table. Waiting for us, was a hand written card from the general manager greeting my Grandma happy birthday. Almost as soon as we sat down, a group of waiters quietly set bread and butter on our tables, then filled our glasses with water. They left then gave us a few minutes to order. While waiting, I decided to try a piece of bread. I tore off a piece, and smeared it with butter, and slowly started to eat it. The butter was so rich, and slightly salty, while the texture of the bread, complemented the overall taste. Once we decided on what to eat, we called the waiter to list our orders.
After almost thirty minutes of waiting the food finally arrived. A group of waiters simultaneously placed our orders in front of us. And warned us that the plate was very, VERY, hot. Me, being an ignorant idiot decided to dab the plate with my finger..... They weren't joking. It was the hottest thing I've ever touched. I felt a very painful, stinging sensation on the tip of my finger, which wouldn't allow me to touch anything for the rest of the night.... Anyway, the main dish, a 12 ounce rib eye, was waiting for me to eat it. The aroma of the steak was so strong I could almost taste it. The outside of the steak was a dark toasty brown, while the inside was raw pink. I quickly sliced a piece, and put it into my mouth. It was awesome... The warmth of the meat filled my mouth, and the taste was something I've never tasted in my whole life. The outside was crispy, while the inside was tender and chewy. I enjoyed then finished my meal after about thirty minutes, then sang happy birthday. The waiters presented us with a small chocolate cake with strawberries all over the side of the plate. The cake was soft, sweet and melted in my mouth. We chatted and quickly devoured the cake. Finally, after three hours of eating and sharing stories, we all left and parted ways.t

Halloween!

What's up guys, and welcome to another blog! I am sure that many of you are very well aware that this recent Saturday was Halloween. So I'm just going to swim with the tide, and blog about my awesome Halloween experience.
It all started at five o'clock, when I had just pulled up at my friend, David's house. I got out of my car and kissed my mom goodbye, then hurriedly went inside the house to greet David, and his mother. I started to set my stuff aside side and and settle down. After about twenty minutes, David and I decided to go skate outside on his front yard. We were messing around, while trying new and wacky things on our boards. Eventually, my close friend Max, pulled up the side of the house, right in front of me and David. He got out of the car, hopping on one leg, due to his fractured ankle. His mom handed him his crutches, while I brought his sleeping bag and clothes inside the house. We all decided to just hang out inside the house and play video games, because Max couldn't skate. After about thirty minutes of hardcore gaming, my best friend, Russell, followed by my other good friend Dax, entered the house. They set his stuff down then joined us in gaming. We gamed and watch Netflix until it was time to trick or treat. We got into our costumes, then hopped in the van. After about a five minute drive, we pulled up on a neighborhood. We started to walk around and gather candy, little by little. We kept on wandering around the dark neighborhood, going through haunted houses, for almost two hours. Along the way, house to house, we noticed the road was getting really, really crowded, then eventually left.
We got back home, tired, with sore feet. Eventually, we settled down and freshened up. Everybody got into comfortable position around the living area, and began to watch scary movies, in the spirit of Halloween.

Skate Land

Hey guys, welcome to another blog post! This week is going to be about my friend, Mireille, and her birthday party that I attended this Saturday, which took place at Skate Land. Skate Land was a recreational centre that allowed all people to roller skate or roller blade. At the time, roller skating was a totally new thing for me. You might think that since I skateboard, roller skating would be a breeze for me. It turns out, it was a lot harder than I thought it was. I almost felt that roller skating was the complete opposite of skateboarding. As soon I put on the skates, I instantly felt unbalanced, which was a feeling that I haven't felt in a long time. I realised that I had to push with both feet as opposed to a single foot, and also had to change my posture in which I rolled.
Once I put on my skates, I decided to try to skate on the floor. It wasn't so bad, at least maybe the first five seconds... I fell on my butt, due to me lifting my foot in front of my body, which is how I pushed on a skateboard. Me, trying not to look like an idiot, got up as fast as possible, and kept trying. I kept falling, and falling, but being a skateboarder, I knew that the more I fell and tried, the better I'd get. Seeing all my friends, able to do what I wanted to do, without looking like an idiot, encouraged me, and because of that, within twenty minutes I knew how properly push around.
After finally learning how to ride around, the real fun began. My and my friends, like usual started messing around and having lots of fun. After about two hours of skating around and pure fun, we gathered to the party room, ate, then sung happy birthday. Finally, after singing and eating cake, we had about thirty minutes left to skate.
Overall, I had a really great time celebrating with Mireille, and my friends, and hope I go again someday.

A Fun Friday.

Welcome back to my blog! This week's post is going to be about this previous Friday. This Friday was particularly fun for me. Not only was it a minimal day, it's was also the day where my friends, David, Russell, Max, Greg, Kenny and I would journey to the skatepark.
The fun began when the bell had rung  at 12:47pm. I dashed to the bike racks to get my board, then waited for my friends to come. Once all of us were assembled, we skated to Starbucks. After around thirty minutes of skating next to Starbucks and fooling around, the uber had finally arrived. We all loaded our stuff, then hopped in the van. On the way there, we discussed the goals we wanted to achieve. My good friend Greg, said that he wanted to ollie one of the biggest gaps of the whole park.   Even I considered trying it. It was around seven feet tall, and had a small slope on the bottom. All of us kept chit-chatting until we pulled up the side of the park. We unloaded our stuff then began to cruise around the park. I stretched a bit and began to warm my body up, with a few simple tricks. After about ten minutes of warming up, I got straight to business and started to try new things. There was a tall, blue ledge that was a knee high for me. After around seven tries, I grinded it. I kept trying new things, until Greg said that he was ready to ollie the seven footer. He cruised to the spot and rolled up to see the drop. I decided to roll up and do the same. One glance looking down, and I was immediately terrified. I knew that if I were to try this, I would get badly hurt. I concluded that I wouldn't try it. Greg on the other hand, decided that he wouldn't back down. I rolled next to David who was ready to film. Greg said that he was ready to attempt it. He jumped on his board with plenty of speed, and directly committed. He fell off his board on impact, and slid on his slide. He yelled in frustration and pain. We encouraged him, screaming his name, in order to hype him up, and told him that he could land it. Greg decided he would go for it a second time. He went up the drop, looking focused and prepared. He jumped on his board with even more speed. Greg directly committed once again, but didn't land it. He couldn't take the impact, which lead him to stick, then slam way harder than last time. He yelled in pain and said that his ankles couldn't take it anymore. We didn't want to force Greg into hurting himself so we told him to relax. I decided to keep on trying to learn new things.
At the end of the day, we all had plenty of fun and got lots of clips for our upcoming YouTube video, "Sk9r Boiz."

Nobody Likes The Dentist...

Hey guys, welcome to my fourth blog! This week's post is going to be a bit out of the ordinary, because it based on my experience at the dentist...
That word.... "dentist," strikes fear into the heart of even the strongest man. But not me, I wasn't one bit nervous, even though I had to get one of my teeth extracted. I walked in to the waiting room, listening to music, patiently waiting for my named to be called. Finally, after about an hour later, a lady called my name. She guided me through the rooms and made me sit down on the procedural chair. She told me that I had to wait around 15 minutes for the "instruments to be sterilized". Those few words sent a chill through the back of my spine. I was immediately nervous. After about 15 minutes, two dentist gently place a pack of tools labeled, "surgical" on the table next to me. My legs slowly started to shiver in fear. One of the dentist then sat down next to me with a three inch syringe needle and said, "this is the anesthesia, to make you numb." I nodded casually, but in my head I was terrified. I hate needles. I hate shots and everything that has to do with shots. She slowly inserted the needle in my inner cheek. I felt it, a small, annoying, but painful pinch. She left the needle in my cheek for a few more seconds, then pulled it out. But it wasn't over yet. She got a fresh new syringe and told me that she had to inject more into my gum. I clenched my fists and squeezed my toes, feeling really tense. She again, slowly inserted the needle into my jaw and left it in my gum for a few seconds. The feeling I felt was nothing but an annoyance. It made me want to jump out of my seat and scratch my gum. Finally, she pulled the needle out of my gum.
She told me that I had to wait a few minutes for the numbing to kick in. It was only a matter of minutes when I couldn't feel half of my face. I tried speaking but couldn't, because I couldn't feel my tongue. After ten minutes, the real action was about to begin.
The doctors asked me if I was numb. I nodded because I couldn't talk. They warned that I would feel a lot of pressure on my tooth and that it might hurt a little bit. I was prepared to deal with the pain. They open the surgical pack and got two screwdriver-looking tools. She got what looked like a flathead screwdriver and stuck it in between my teeth. She started to twist it more and more. It was so excruciatingly painful. I thought that the numbing would help, but it barely did. I felt every bit of it. After twisting my tooth, she got a dull tool and started to push my tooth down. This was even more painful. It felt like my whole jaw would come break off. Finally, she got  a pair of plier looking tools and started to pull my tooth. And just like that, it was out. My mouth was bloody, sore and in so much pain. They stuffed gauze into my mouth in order to stop the bleeding. The lady said that I couldn't eat anything hard or warm, and said I could go finally home.
In conclusion, no matter how fearless you think you are, the dentist will always be one of your greatest fears...

Chris Joslin, Professional Skateboarder

Hey guys welcome to my third blog post! This weeks' blog is going to be about how one of my favourite skateboarders, Chris Joslin, recently turned pro. Now, you might be wondering what being 'pro' means. Becoming pro is every skateboarders' dream. First of all, you get to have your name on a skateboard. This alone is a huge deal, because every skateboarder dreams of his name on a board. Second, you get income, which is amazing because you're getting paid for having fun and doing what you love. And finally, you also get recognised by other skateboarders and eventually develop fans that look up to you.

Out of all the current amateur skateboarders,  Chris Joslin was the least yet most viable candidate. Joslin has more talent on a skateboard than most pros today, however he had just became  amateur, which is the level before pro. Normally, if you become amateur, you'd have two wait around 2-4 years before becoming pro. Joslin was only an amateur for one year. Which is an extremely short time. He even became pro before both Trevor McClung and Scott Decenzo (amateur skateboarders), who have been on the Plan B team for more than two years.

In conclusion, Joslin possess an immense amount of skill on a skateboard, and definitely deserves to be called a 'pro'.

Interesting Day at Venice

Yesterday, on September 26, 2015, my group of friends and I, celebrated one of my good friend's birthday at Venice beach. We had planned to go to the skatepark there, which was next to the sandy shore of the beach. All of us were really excited, especially me, because it was been my first time there. As soon as I stepped foot in the skatepark, I started to cruise around and warm up. After the quick process, I tried to reach the goals that I had set for myself before I arrived. After several, long hours, I eventually did more, and all I hoped to do. Overall, I had a great time.
After skating, we decided to head across the park to get something to eat. As, I was ordering my food I heard a group of people loudly speaking on a microphone. I decided to ignore them and wait for my food. Once my warm, cheesy, pepperoni pizza was ready for me to eat, I decided to listen to what those men had to say. I didn't like what I heard. The men were quoting the bible while they were disrespectfully bashing gay people publicly. Personally, I do not care about or mind gays, and what they do. However, I do care when people disrespect gays. I believe that all people should have a say in their sexuality. Anyway, shortly after I finished my food I turned around and noticed my friends, Dax and David, talking to those men. I thought to myself, "what are those guys doing?" I walked up to them and decided to listen to what they were saying. David was talking about how people was talking about how everybody has unalienable rights, while Dax was backing him up. In my head I thought, "Mr.Goldstein would be so proud..."
After a while of a back and fourth argument,  we decided to leave to avoid any aggression.
That day was pretty crazy... Yet awesome.

Skateboarding is More Than Meets The Eye...

Hey guys, welcome to my first blog! A lot of you probably know me by now so I'm just going to skip the introduction part.

Some of you know of my love and burning passion for skateboarding. Skateboarding is the one thing that I absolutely love. Many people just think of skating as just a pass-time activity or just a hobby, but to me, it's more than that. Skating is a life style to me, not just some fun activity. I prefer skateboarding over every other sport because it's totally different. In skating, there is no coach, no specific way of doing things, it revolves around self progression and pushing yourself. Now, that may seem hard, like for example, building Legos without instructions, but it's a lot easier when your friends are in the picture. You see, the main reason I started skating, was because of my friends. I remember that day almost two years ago, when I saw one of my best friends, Max, trying tricks on a skateboard. At that very moment I knew, that I just had to get my own skateboard. Then after that, ever since the day I bought my first, cheap, China-Town skateboard, my friends and I have been pushing each other to try new, harder things on our boards. And that's why I love skating so much. While I'm having fun skating, I'm also learning new things, with the people I love.

After two years of self progression and skating with my friends, I can now do what I once thought was impossible for me to do all those years back. And in the space of these two years, I've  met awesome, new friends that share the same burning passion as me.

This is why I prefer skateboarding over any other sport, simply because of the freedom, fun and friendship it offers.
